Harriet Tubman a/k/a Emma

We have been so busy with different things this spring. Feels like May is just going to be nutz. Last night we had the literacy fair at Emma's School. The kids had a chance to read a biography and do a book report, then for extra credit they could participate in the literacy parade and dress like a character from their book. Emma chose to read about Harriet Tubman. She always seems to pick out the funniest detail of the book. While writing her speech about the woman who created and worked on the underground railroad, she was stuck on the fact that a 5 years old Harriet was taken away from her parents to work on a plantation. She looked really cute, with her dollar store bandanna in her hair. Only 4 kids from her class chose to be in the parade.......

Her speech was as follows:

"Hi my name is Harriet Tubman. When I was 5 years old I was taken away from my parents to work on a plantation. I helped slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad."

On more book report down for the year. It's hard to believe that there is only 6 weeks left of school.

While at the fair, Scott and I got to meet the infamous Will T's mom and dad. I can't believe these 2 are still smitten with each other. His mom said that she gets the daily fashion report on how Emma looks that day. And he loves her new purple hair. He said she is so "fashionable" SIGH.............................. His parents were actually quite lovely, and it was nice to finally meet them. We laughed that someday we will be meeting to make wedding plans with these 2.
Now if he would only grow into his ears.................................
